Alfie’s Legacy

About Alfie

Alfie Naylor tragically passed away from SADS (sudden arrhythmia death syndrome) on 31st August 2025.

Alfie was a healthy, energetic 19-year-old – committed to his career in farming and enjoying life to the full and who never shied away from helping others.

Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions.

Saving Lives By Scanning Hearts

Alfie’s Legacy aims to raise money to fund screening events that can identify hidden heart conditions and save lives.

Let’s honour Alfie’s legacy by making a difference in the lives of others.

So What is Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS)?

SADS is the sudden and unexpected death of a person; often without any warning – the heart just stops beating.

Unlike a heart attack, often there is no obvious cause, even after an examination of the heart and these deaths are classified as “natural”.

The greatest challenge is that these life limiting conditions don’t develop until adolescence

What Happens At a Screening?

There is a simple way to diagnose most cardiac abnormalities. This is by having an ECG (electrocardiogram) test. The results are read by a cardiologist and for extra clarity an Echocardiogram (ultrasound scan) can also be done.

If there has been a young (under 35) sudden death in the family, the family is entitled to be screened on the NHS.

What Do We Do

Collect

Our aim is to fund screening events that can identify hidden heart conditions and save lives. Let’s honor Alfie’s legacy by making a difference in the lives of others.

Inform

Our mission is to raise awareness about cardiac issues in young people and fund screening events to detect heart conditions early.

Campaign

12 young people a week die in the UK – that’s over 600 young people a year suddenly dying without explanation
